What Our Patients are saying about us
“After doing my own research on Functional Medicine, I made my initial appointment with Michelle McCaslin to assist me with bio-identical hormone replacement and hair loss. My previous practitioner didn’t use an in-depth approach, so it wasn’t very individualized. Michelle digs deep and I am learning so much about how my body is a map and all the moving pieces affect each other.
I’m happy to report that my hormones are in a good place and I can tell by my emotions if something needs to be adjusted. I took for granted how big of an affect liver and gut health play into hormone balance. Michelle suggested various supplements to support my body and strongly encouraged me to implement a clean eating diet. I started taking the vitamins, but didn’t feel that the dietary changes were necessary because I didn’t have any other issues outside of needing hormone replacement. It took me longer than I’m happy to admit that my diet was the one thing that needed to change immediately. It was a mental block that kept me from reaching my goals and feeling my best.
I have inflammation due to years of being overweight and not eating clean or supporting my body. From Michelle, I have learned about other therapies such as: infrared sauna, lymphatic massage and acupuncture. I am now on my own health journey, supported by Michelle, reading, listening to podcasts and finally clean eating. I am still working on my health goals, and am continuing to see improvement. I have more clarity, energy and feel less puffy and inflamed. I doubt I would be this excited and committed to the future had I not found Michelle; in all honesty, she really opened my eyes.”

“This past Spring I had ACL reconstruction surgery. In consulting with Michelle McCaslin, I received additional support from a functional medicine approach. She recommended supplements and regular nutritional IV’s to help the other functions of my body being affected by the injury, as well as prepare for the surgery and healing afterwards. The boost in nutrition helped support my liver to process the pain medications, buffer my adrenals and immune system to the stress from surgery, as well as help my body recover post surgery. I was able to discontinue my pain meds ahead of schedule. I feel that the nutritional IVs gave me the extra boost to push through the difficult physical therapy and recover quickly from each new level of work. I also travel often by airplane and have used Michelle McCaslin’s advice of supplements and nutritional IVs to stay healthy. I have not had a flu shot in years and also have not caught the usual seasonal colds or flu (knock on wood!). I continue to see Michelle to refine my diet and nutrition to both heal my knee and improve my overall wellness.”

IV Therapy works!
“I was barely able to make it to my first appointment with Michelle McCaslin at Heartland Functional Medicine. I had already seen so many Doctors and tried so many things that I had no energy left, yet decided to make the 2.5 hour drive anyways, with my husbands help. We work together everyday, and own our own company with a staff of around 9 required both of us to be working all the time. I could no longer work and felt so ill I could barely talk. To speak I felt I had to look for words, like in a filing cabinet. We were thinking along the lines of We do this or die, have no quality of life, end up dead meat.
Every thing was a sensory overload, even staying at home. There was work to be done everywhere, and my life is built around work. Yet I barely survived that first ride to my initial appointment. My body ached so much, the vibrations from the road hurt so bad, that my husband pulled over every 20 minutes so I could rest a little. When we arrived I could barely speak and practically collapsed into my chair in her office. I had no energy left, my husband had to help communicate my story, clarifying the extensive functional medicine paperwork we had filled out before leaving.
Michelle developed a complete plan that began with focusing on my adrenals to bring back some energy. I had been on hormones before but wasn’t receiving the benefits I was looking for. After some initial diagnostics and bloodwork, I began work on a plan that included nutrition, prescriptions, and what I felt was most effective: weekly IV treatments. At first I felt worse, the weekly trips of 2.5 hours each way drained me. Over time I began to gain energy back. We became completely committed to making these weekly trips.
Recently things have improved so much, I was able to help my husband when he had eye surgery. I drove him back and forth 3 times to the hospital. I drove him all the way to Schuler for Chiropractor appointments. I rode the ‘Gator around our land, do chores, go to work, enjoying life. My husband watches out for me though, he has to tell me to slow down to the point we argue, because we’re both A type personalities, go go go. It’s true though, as I was improving if I did too much I’d use up all my energy and feel sick again. So I’m committed to this health plan from Michelle, its an ongoing process, and changes don’t happen overnight, but the changes have been and continue to be amazing. I hope this story is helpful to anyone who may have given up hope, or no longer have the energy to try another way.
I no longer worry about how long I live, because with Michelle McCaslin’s help: I live life! I have my life back! So very grateful for Michelle and the entire staff (of Heartland Functional Medicine), and the dedication they have to all their patients.”
